Services

The jobs I do most

  • Fault finding

Tripping switches, dead sockets, flickering lights. I trace the fault, explain it in plain English and fix it.

  • Consumer unit upgrades

Swap an old fuse box for a modern consumer unit with RCD protection, tested and certified.

  • EICR certificates

Electrical Installation Condition Reports for landlords, buyers and anyone who wants peace of mind.

  • EV charger installs

Home charge points fitted neatly, on a dedicated circuit, with the paperwork you need.

  • Lighting

New lights, downlights, outdoor lighting and dimmers, with the cables hidden and the dust cleared.

  • Something else?

Sockets, extractor fans, smoke alarms, garden supplies. If it’s electrical, ask.

FAQ

Good questions

Do you charge for quotes?

Quotes for planned work are free. Fault finding is charged by the hour, because the time goes into finding the problem. (Template answer.)

How quickly can you come out?

For planned work, usually within a week or two. For urgent faults, call and I’ll tell you honestly when I can get there.

What is an EICR, and do I need one?

An Electrical Installation Condition Report checks the safety of your existing wiring. Landlords in Scotland need one at least every five years, and it’s worth having when you buy a home.

Will you leave a mess?

No. Dust sheets go down before tools come out, and I hoover up before I leave. It’s in the name.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. New circuits and consumer units come with the right certificate, emailed to you the same week.
